About paidpromotracker

We surface what paid stock-promotion disclosures already say (who paid whom to promote which ticker) and measure what happened to the price afterward.

Our mission

paidpromotracker is a watchdog data publication, published by Paid Promo Tracker LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. When someone is paid to promote a stock, the law requires them to disclose it; those disclosures are public but scattered across dozens of newsletters and promotion sites. We collect them in one place, deduplicate them into distinct deals, and pair each with what the market price actually did. The goal is narrow and factual: make the disclosures easy to read, and let the outcomes speak for themselves.

What we do

We track paid-promotion disclosures, collapse the many newsletter copies of one campaign into a single deal, and backtest the price around each promotion window. The full data pipeline, metric definitions, and grading inputs are documented on the methodology page, and the plain-language walkthrough lives on how it works.

Where the market data comes from

Market quote and chart data on this site is licensed from a third-party market-data provider, which supplies the price series behind our PnL and backtest figures; the disclosure tracking, deduplication, and grading are ours.

How we make money

The core watchdog premise is a conflict-of-interest one, so we are direct about it: paidpromotracker does not take payment from the newsletter operators, promoters, or issuers it covers, and does not publish content on anyone’s behalf. The site is paid for by reader subscriptions: ended promos and their disclosures are open to everyone, and Pro adds live promos, the performance numbers, track records and alerts. No plan, now or later, includes selling or softening coverage of a covered operator.

That is about payment, and payment is not the whole picture. See who owns us below.

Who owns us, and the conflict that creates

PaidPromoTracker's team includes the owners of Goldwyn Media LLC, an operator that appears in our data. Goldwyn's campaigns are collected, measured, and graded by exactly the same method as every other operator's. Nothing is adjusted, delayed, or left out, and no operator can pay to change how it is scored or to be removed.

We think the honest way to handle this is to name it rather than claim a neutrality we cannot fully claim. Concretely:

  • Goldwyn is not given favourable treatment, a higher grade, or a delayed publication. It is scored by the same code as every other operator, described in full on Methodology.
  • Goldwyn pays paidpromotracker nothing. Its campaigns are not sponsored placements and are not labelled as such, because that would not be true.
  • We do not remove or soften an operator’s record on request, ours included. Corrections are handled publicly through Corrections.

What we don’t do

  • We do not give personalized investment advice. Everything here is impersonal information published the same way to every reader. See the disclaimer.
  • We do not accept payment from the operators, promoters, or issuers we cover, and we do not accept payment to add, remove, or change coverage.
  • We do not imply that a disclosed, §17(b)-compliant promotion is illegal. We report what the disclosure said and what the price did. Nothing more.
  • We do not present our grades as fact. Grades are our opinion, derived from the disclosed-deal outcomes shown beside them.
